Live in the Moment and NOT on your Phone

I have often surfed my FaceBook feed, thinking, “Wow, I don't do nearly enough activities with my kids”, or "Gee, that girl has quite the social life that I wish I had"...bring in the sound effects for a car coming to a screeching stop here!
Wait a minute! Last time I checked, I had a full calendar packed with play dates, crafting with my BFF, coffee dates, playtime with A, and snuggles with baby C. For Valentine's Day, I managed to pull off an EPIC date for me and my hubby. Yes, EPIC, so there Facebook! Where is the proof you might ask? Let’s see, oh, I have it! It's locked away tight…it's in my brain!
I find that posting photos can lead to guilt and judgement and sometimes unhappy thoughts. Did I mention that was from me and not from others? Why are we so hard on ourselves? Well, part of the reason is that we want everything to look perfect and be perfect all the time. We are so concerned about what other people think and a lot of posts are for show, in my opinion. I do like taking photos of my food and pictures of some special events and family, but do you know how much space that takes up on my phone, especially if I take the photo 3-5 times just because my selfie wasn't at the right angle? Who has time for this $#!+ anyway? I don't necessarily want to be posting unhappy stuff, as my life is not all roses even though the photos might show something different.
Secondly, why not enjoy the time, the food, the snuggle, and the date, without taking the photos? Am I afraid to use my brain, or afraid I’ll forget the moment? Chances are that if the moment is really important to me, I will remember how it made me feel, and I will remember the details, like the smell associated to that moment, event, or time.
So, next time do yourself a favour and don't ruin the moment by being on your phone with the intention of sharing it with the world, by hitting “post”. The moment will pass in a heartbeat and you'll be too late to enjoy the special moment, that is your life.
